Then the disciples came, and said to him, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" And he answered them, "To you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but it is not given to them. For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have abundance, but whoever does not have, from him will be taken away even that which he has.read more.
Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing, they do not hear, neither do they understand. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.
"When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.
When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, and about righteousness, and about judgment;
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God;
And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba, Father."
He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.
He said to them, "Thus it is written, for the Messiah to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.
Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. And look, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

He said to them, "Go into all the world, and proclaim the Good News to the whole creation.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth."

They said therefore, "What is this that he says, 'A little while?' We do not know what he is saying."
being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts;
