We will not cause them trouble. Go to the sea, and let down a hook, and take the first fish you catch. You will see money (a stater coin) in its mouth. Give it to them for me and for you.

Suddenly a storm blew in and the boat was covered with waves. Jesus was asleep.

That day Jesus left the house and sat by the seashore.

The disciples were in awe. They asked: What kind of man is this, for even the winds and the sea obey him? When he arrived at the other side of the lake in the country of the Gadarenes two men possessed by demons came to him from out of the tombs. They were extremely violent, so no man could pass by that way. They screamed at him, saying: What have we to do with you, Son of God? Have you come to torment us before the time? A large herd of swine was feeding in the distance. The demons pleaded with him: If you cast us out, send us into the herd of swine! He told them to go. And they came out, and went into the swine. The entire herd rushed down the hill into the sea, where they perished in the waters.

Jesus sent the disciples in a boat to the other side of the sea. He stayed there until he sent the crowd away. After sending the crowd away, he went to the mountain to pray by himself. He was there alone that night. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea. The wind and the waves caused great trouble. read more.

A great windstorm came up and the waves came into the boat. He was in back of the boat sleeping on a cushion. They woke him. They said: Master is it nothing to you that we are in danger of destruction? He awoke from sleep and commanded the wind and sea. He commanded the sea to be at peace and rest. And he commanded the wind to go down and there was a great calm.

Jesus stood by the Lake of Gennesaret as the crowds pressed in upon him in order to hear the word of God. He saw two boats docked by the shore. The fishermen had gone away from them and were washing their nets. He boarded one of the boats. It was Simon's boat. He asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. read more.
When he finished speaking he asked Simon to put into deep water and let down the nets for a catch. Simon answered, Master we worked all night and caught nothing. At your word I will let down the nets. When they did this they caught a large number of fish and their nets were breaking. They called their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They filled both boats until they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this he fell down at Jesus' knees. He said: Depart from me for I am a sinful man, O Lord. He and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish.

He said to his disciples: Let us go to the other side of the lake. Then he and his disciples boarded a boat and did so. Jesus fell asleep as they sailed to the other side. A large windstorm came to the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in danger. They awoke him saying: Master, Master, we parish! He rebuked the wind and the raging of the water and there was calm.

Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He presented himself this way. They told him: We would also come with you. They boarded the boat and caught nothing that night. read more.
Jesus stood on the beach at daybreak. The disciples did not know it was Jesus. Jesus said to them: Children, have you anything to eat? They answered him: No. He said: Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find fish. They cast it and they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter: It is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat about him (for he was dressed only in undergarments), and jumped into the sea. The other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about one hundred yards away), dragging the net full of fishes. When they got to land, they saw a fire of coals and fish laid on it, and bread. Jesus said: Bring the fish you caught. Simon Peter went to draw the net to land. It was full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty three in all. There were so many and yet the net was not torn.

The next day Saul arranged the army in three divisions. They came into the Ammonite camp during the morning hours. They continued to defeat the Ammonites until it got hot that day. The survivors were so scattered that no two of them were left together.

Just before dawn, Jehovah looked down from the column of fire and smoke and threw the Egyptian camp into a panic.

Bakbukiah and Unno, their brothers, were opposite them in their watches.

Rise up! Cry out in the night at the beginning of the night watches. Let your heart be flowing out like water before the face of Jehovah. Lift up your hands to him for the life of your young children who are falling down starving in every street.

Just before morning, Jesus walked to them on the water.

Gideon and the hundred men, who were with him, came to the outside of the camp. It was the beginning of the middle watch and they had just posted the new watch. They blew the trumpets, and broke the jars that were in their hands.

As I lie on my bed, I remember you. Through the long hours of the night, I think about you.

My eyes anticipate the night watches that I may meditate on your word.
