And he must not {acquire many} wives for himself, so that his heart [would] turn aside; and {he must not accumulate silver and gold for himself excessively}.

{Did not one God make them?} But a remnant of [the] spirit is his. And what does the one [God] desire? An offspring of God. {You must be attentive to} your spirit, and you must not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.

{Did not one God make them?} But a remnant of [the] spirit is his. And what does the one [God] desire? An offspring of God. {You must be attentive to} your spirit, and you must not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.




And Pharisees came up to him [in order to] test him, and asked if it was permitted for a man to divorce his wife for any cause. And he answered [and] said, "Have you not read that the one who created [them] from the beginning made them male and female and said, 'On account of this a man will leave his father and his mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? read more.
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate." They said to him, "Why then did Moses command [us] to give a document--a certificate of divorce--and to divorce her?" He said to them, "Moses, with reference to your hardness of heart, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not like this. Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on the basis of sexual immorality, and marries another commits adultery, and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery."


But until today, whenever Moses is read aloud, a veil lies upon their heart,

For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, [because they] did not recognize this one, and the voices of the prophets that are read on every Sabbath, fulfilled [them] [by] condemning [him].


So he said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those with him,


(For they did not yet know the scripture that it was necessary for him to rise from the dead.)


And Pharisees came up to him [in order to] test him, and asked if it was permitted for a man to divorce his wife for any cause. And he answered [and] said, "Have you not read that the one who created [them] from the beginning made them male and female and said, 'On account of this a man will leave his father and his mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? read more.
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate." They said to him, "Why then did Moses command [us] to give a document--a certificate of divorce--and to divorce her?" The disciples said to him, "If this is the case of a man with his wife, it would be better not to marry!" But he said to them, "Not everyone can accept this saying but [those] to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who were born as such from [their] mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by people, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves [eunuchs] for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept [this], let him accept [it]."

And they asked him if it was permitted for a man to divorce [his] wife, [in order to] test him. And he answered [and] said to them, "What did Moses command you?" So they said, "Moses permitted [a man] to write a certificate of divorce and to send [her] away." read more.
But Jesus said to them, "He wrote this commandment for you because of your hardness of heart. But from the beginning of creation 'he made them male and female. Because of this a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh,' so that they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate." And in the house again the disciples began to ask him about this. And he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband [and] marries another, she commits adultery."


Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Therefore, shall I take away the members of Christ [and] make [them] members of a prostitute? May it never be! Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body [with her]? For it says, "The two will become one flesh."


And he answered [and] said, "Have you not read that the one who created [them] from the beginning made them male and female and said, 'On account of this a man will leave his father and his mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate."

But from the beginning of creation 'he made them male and female. Because of this a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh,' so that they are no longer two but one flesh. read more.
Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate."

Thus also husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. The one who loves his own wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as also Christ [does] the church, because we are members of his body. read more.
"For this [reason] a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."




Deacons must be husbands of one wife, managing [their] children and their own households well.

Because Yahweh stands as a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have been unfaithful, even though she [is] your marriage partner and {your wife by covenant}. {Did not one God make them?} But a remnant of [the] spirit is his. And what does the one [God] desire? An offspring of God. {You must be attentive to} your spirit, and you must not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.
