They sacrificed unto devils, not to God, to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came from nearby, whom your fathers feared not. Of the strong One that begat thee thou art unmindful and hast forgotten the God that travailed for thee. And when the LORD saw it, his wrath was kindled because of his sons and of his daughters. read more.
And he said, I will hide my face from them; I will see what their end shall be: that they are a generation of perversities, sons without faith. They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities; and I also will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with foolish Gentiles. For fire shall be kindled in my anger and shall burn unto the lowest part of Sheol and shall consume the earth with her fruit and burn up the foundations of the mountains. I will heap evils upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them. They shall be consumed with hunger and devoured with burning heat and with bitter destruction; I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

But ye that forsake the LORD, that forget the mountain of my holiness, that prepare a table unto fortune, and that furnish the drink offering for destiny; I also will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter because when I called, ye did not respond; I spoke, and ye did not hear, but did evil before my eyes and did choose that which displeased me. Therefore thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, my slaves shall eat, but ye shall be hungry; behold, my slaves shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty; behold, my slaves shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed:

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

So shall thy poverty come as one that travels and thy want as an armed man.

Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

The slothful man says, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

The way of the slothful man is as a hedge of thorns, but the path of the righteous is made plain.

He also that is negligent in his work is brother to him that is the great spendthrift.

I went by the field of the slothful and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding, and, behold, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered its face, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it and received chastening. read more.
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travels and thy want as an armed man.

He that deals with a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. He that gathers in summer is a wise son, but he that sleeps in harvest is a son that causes shame.

The desire of the slothful kills him; for his hands refuse to labour. There is one who covets greedily all day long, but the righteous gives and keeps on giving.

The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. As the door turns upon his hinges, so does the slothful upon his bed. The slothful hides his hand in his bosom; it grieves him to bring it again to his mouth. read more.
The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can give him counsel.

Do not be among those who are drunk with wine; nor among gluttonous eaters of food; for the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty, and drowsiness shall cause them to wear rags.

By much slothfulness the building decays, and through idleness of the hands the rain drips throughout the house.

Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
