Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, our brother, to Philemon, our beloved fellow worker,

May God strike me dead unless you are given Joab's place to serve me always as the commander of the army.' All the people of Judah were in total agreement. So they sent the king this message: Come back with all your servants. The king returned to the Jordan River. The people of Judah went to Gilgal to meet the king and bring him across the Jordan River. Shimei son of Gera from the tribe of Benjamin and the town of Bahurim, hurried down with the people of Judah to meet King David. One thousand people from Benjamin were with him. Ziba the servant of Saul's family rushed to the Jordan River across from the king. Ziba brought his fifteen sons and twenty servants. They brought David's family and servants back across the river. They did everything he wanted them to do. Shimei crossed the Jordan River and bowed down in front of David. He said: I beg you not to punish me! Please forget what I did when you left Jerusalem. Do not even think about it.

Comfort each other and strengthen one another as you are doing.

The things written in earlier times were written for our instruction, that we through endurance and the encouragement from the Scriptures might have hope.

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.

Be determined and with good courage. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, Jehovah, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.

Be strong and courageous for you will help this people inherit the land. This is the land I swore to give to their fathers. Be strong and very courageous, that you may be careful to do according to all the Law, which Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law will not depart out of your mouth. You must meditate (intensely study) (think deeply) on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. Have I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage. Do not be afraid, neither be dismayed; for Jehovah your God is with you wherever you go.

But the person who prophesies (proclaims God's Word openly) speaks to men to build up, encourage and comfort.

Comfort one another with these words.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, for he is faithful that promised. Let us consider one another to encourage love and good works:
