Watch! Be alert! For you don’t know when the time is coming. It is like a man on a journey, who left his house, gave authority to his slaves, gave each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to be alert. Therefore be alert, since you don’t know when the master of the house is coming—whether in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the rooster or early in the morning. read more.
Otherwise, he might come suddenly and find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to everyone: Be alert!”
“Be ready for service and have your lamps lit. You must be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet so that when he comes and knocks, they can open the door for him at once. If he comes in the middle of the night, or even near dawn, and finds them alert, those slaves are blessed.
But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Besides this, knowing the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
Be alert, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong.
Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.
So then, we must not sleep, like the rest, but we must stay awake and be serious.
Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,
Now the end of all things is near; therefore, be serious and disciplined for prayer.
Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.
Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you are not alert, I will come like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come against you.
Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me.
