Then Yahweh said, "Shall I conceal from Abraham what I [am going] to do? Abraham will surely become a great and strong nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed on account of him. For I have chosen him, that he will command his children and his household after him that they will keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice, so that Yahweh may bring upon Abraham that which he said to him."
"However, {take care} for yourself and watch your inner self closely, so that you do not forget the things that your eyes have seen, so that they do not slip from your mind all the days of your life; and you shall make them known to your children and to {your grandchildren}.
And these words that I am commanding you {today} shall be on your heart. And you shall recite them to your children, and you shall talk about them at [the time of] your living in your house and at [the time of] your going on the road and at [the time of] your lying down and at [the time of] your rising [up].
We will not hide [them] from their children, telling the next generation the praises of Yahweh, and his power and his wonders that he has done.
Look, children [are] the heritage of Yahweh; the fruit of the womb [is] a reward. Like arrows in [the] hand of a warrior, so [are] the children of [one's] youth. Blessed [is] the man who fills his quiver with them. They shall not be put to shame when they speak with enemies at the gate.
Train the child {concerning his way}; even when he is old, he will not stray from it.
And fathers, do not make your children angry, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
and that from childhood you have known the holy writings that are able [to make] you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
