And let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us. And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Do not sin against the young man; and ye would not hear? therefore behold also his blood is required. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things have come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou shalt turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient to his voice;

These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.

Confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing earnest in prayer;

I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.

Great is my boldness of speech towards you, great is my glorying concerning you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

Therefore, brethren, by your faith we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress:

So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God, for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
