And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
This beginning of signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
And they said to one another, Was not our heart burning in us as he spoke to us on the way, and as he opened the scriptures to us?
And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all that is written concerning me in the law of Moses and prophets and psalms must be fulfilled. Then he opened their understanding to understand the scriptures,
And it came to pass as he was in a certain place praying, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples. And he said to them, When ye pray, say, Father, thy name be hallowed; thy kingdom come; give us our needed bread for each day;read more.
and remit us our sins, for we also remit to every one indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.
And he said to them, To you is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to them who are without, all things are done in parables, that beholding they may behold and not see, and hearing they may hear and not understand, lest it may be, they should be converted and they should be forgiven.
but without a parable spoke he not to them; and in private he explained all things to his disciples.
And having turned to the disciples privately he said, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see. For I say to you that many prophets and kings have desired to see the things which ye behold, and did not see them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear them.
And he said to them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place and rest a little. For those coming and those going were many, and they had not leisure even to eat.
From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples that he must go away to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised.
