Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter to you in few words.

For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye abstain from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from lewdness: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye will do well. Fare ye well. So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had convened the multitude, they delivered the epistle. Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

I have written to you in this epistle, not to associate with persons guilty of lewdness:

That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters. For his letters (say they) are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible. Let such one think this, that such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.

This second epistle, beloved, I now write to you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which ye stand.

For verily I say to you, Till heaven and earth shall pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Ye see how large a letter I have written to you with my own hand.
