in order that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands [and to] love their children,

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons, for he [was] a son of his old age. And he made a robe with long sleeves for him.

And we said to my lord, 'We have an aged father, and a younger [brother], the child of his old age, and his brother died, and he alone remains from his mother, and his father loves him.' Then you said to your servants, 'Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you shall not again see my face.' And it happened [that] we went up to your servant, my father, and told him the words of my lord. And when our father said, 'Buy a little food for us,' then we said, 'We cannot go down. If our youngest brother [is] with us, then we shall go down. For we will not be able to see the face of the man unless our youngest brother [is] with us.' Then your servant, my father, said to us, 'You yourselves know that my wife bore two sons to me. One went out from me, and I said, "Surely he must have been torn to pieces," and I have never seen him since. And if you take this one also from me, and he encounters harm, you will bring down my gray head in sorrow to Sheol.'

The king was upset, and he went up to the upper room of the gate and wept. He said as he went, "My son, Absalom, my son, my son, Absalom. {If only} I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son."

And he set out [and] came to his own father. But [while] he was still a long way away, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran {and embraced him} and kissed him.

By this we know that we love the children of God: whenever we love God and keep his commandments.

Therefore become imitators of God, as beloved children,

Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.

But Jesus said, "Allow the children, and do not forbid them to come to me, {for to such belongs} the kingdom of heaven."
