There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bed-ridden for eight years with paralysis. "Aeneas," Peter said to him, "Jesus Christ cures you. Get up, and make your bed." Aeneas got up at once; And all the inhabitants of Lydda and of the Plain of Sharon saw him, and came over to the Lord's side.

When the Governor saw what had happened, he became a believer in Christ, being greatly impressed by the teaching about the Lord.

And the crowds were astonished, when they saw the dumb talking, the cripples made sound, the lame walking about, and the blind with their sight restored; and they praised the God of Israel.

And a profound impression was made upon the people. "He has done everything well!" they exclaimed. "He makes even the deaf hear and the dumb speak!"

Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For, if the Miracles which have been done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have sat in sackcloth and ashes and repented long ago. Yet the doom of Tyre and Sidon will be more bearable at the Judgment than yours.

The Jews, however, refused to believe that he had been blind and had gained his sight, until they had called his parents and questioned them.

"I have told you so," replied Jesus, "and you do not believe me. The work that I am doing in my Father's name bears testimony to me. But you do not believe me, because you are not of my flock.
