This is a great mystery; I mean, concerning Christ and the church. But let every one of you in particular so love his wife as himself: and let the wife reverence her husband.
And I say to you, whosoever shall put away his wife, except for whoredom, and marry another, committeth adultery, and whoso marrieth her that is put away, committeth adultery.
And he saith to them, Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
Whosoever putteth away his wife and marrieth another, committeth adultery; and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband, committeth adultery.
Yet, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife; and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render the debt to the wife; and in like manner the wife also to the husband. The wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband; and in like manner the husband also hath not power over his own body, but the wife.
Let the deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
A bishop therefore must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, prudent, of good behaviour, hospitable, apt to teach;
If a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of luxury or unruly.
