Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God; for I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.read more.

And those of the circumcision who believed, as many as came with Peter, were amazed, because that upon the gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit; for they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God. Now to Him Who is able to establish you, according to my Gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept in silence during eternal ages, but now made manifest, and through the prophetic Scriptures, according to the commandment of the eternal God, made known to all nations for obedience to the faith: to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. A long time, therefore, they tarried there, speaking boldly in the Lord, Who testified to the word of His grace, by granting signs and wonders to be done through their hands.

And it came to pass that, when Jesus ended these words, the multitudes were astonished at His teaching; for He was teaching them as One having authority, and not as the scribes.

And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee; and He was teaching them on the sabbath; and they were astonished at His teaching, because His word was with authority.
