When any one hears the word of the Kingdom, and understands it not, the evil one comes, and snatches away what has been sown in his heart: this is he that was sown by the wayside. And I saw Heaven opened; and, behold, a white horse, and He Who sat on him, called Faithful and True; and in righteousness doth He judge and make war. And, having arranged for him a day, there came to him to his lodging a greater number, to whom he was expounding, fully testifying as to the Kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

But He, answering, said, "It has been written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'"

And Jesus made answer to him, "It has been written, 'Not on bread alone shall man live.'"

For I delivered to you, among the first things, that which also I received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;

Ye search the Scriptures; because in them ye think ye have eternal life; and these are they that testify concerning Me;

To Him all the prophets testify, that through His Name every one who believes on Him receives remission of sins."

for powerfully was he refuting the Jews publicly, showing by the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.

"Think not that I came to destroy the law, or the prophets; I came not to destroy, but to fulfill.

And, beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, He thoroughly interpreted to them, in all the Scriptures, the things concerning Himself.

They said, therefore, one to another, "Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be; that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, 'They divided My garments among themselves, and upon My vesture did they cast lots.'" The soldiers, therefore, did these things.

"I testify to every one who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, if anyone shall add to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and, if anyone shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, even from the things written in this book."

So mightily grew the word of God, and prevailed.

Wherefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive in meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But of a truth I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine upon all the land; and to no one of them was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. "And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and no one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian."

Give diligence to present yourself approved to God, a workman not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

For as many as are of works of law are under a curse; for it has been written, "Cursed is every one who continues not in all the things written in the book of the law, to do them."
