For Jehovah hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and as a wife of youth, that hath been refused, saith thy God.

And the first-born said to the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the land to come in to us after the manner of all the earth: come, let us give our father wine to drink, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve seed alive of our father.

For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break out and cry, thou that travailest not; because the children of the desolate are more numerous than those of her that has a husband.

Exult, thou barren, that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and shout for joy, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith Jehovah.

Now I wish all men to be even as myself: but every one has his own gift of God: one man thus, and another thus.

Thou shalt not take thee a wife, and thou shalt not have sons nor daughters in this place.

His disciples say to him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. And, at the same time, they learn also to be idle, going about to people's houses; and not only idle, but also gossipers and meddlers, speaking things not becoming.read more.
I will therefore that the younger marry, bear children, rule the house, give no occasion to the adversary in respect of reproach.

But concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord; but I give my opinion, as having received mercy of the Lord to be faithful. I think then that this is good, on account of the present necessity, that it is good for a man to remain so as he is. Art thou bound to a wife? seek not to be loosed; art thou free from a wife? do not seek a wife.read more.

The unmarried cares for the things of the Lord, how he shall please the Lord; but he that has married cares for the things of the world, how he shall please his wife. There is a difference between the wife and the virgin.
