And the tempter came and said to him, If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread. And he answered and said; It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God.

Again the devil took him away on a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory, and said to him, All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me. Then Jesus said to him, Get behind me Satan; for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.

And going forward a little, he fell on his face, and prayed and said, My Father, if it is possible let this cup pass from me; but not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Going away again a second time, he prayed, saying, My Father, if this cup cannot pass from me unless I drink it, thy will be done.

And he said, Abba, father, all things are possible to thee. Take away this cup from me; but not what I will but what thou wilt.

for I came down from heaven not to do my will, but the will of him that sent me.

and when all things have been put under him, then will the Son also himself be subject to him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God thought it not a robbery to be equal with God; but he abased himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of man,read more.
