I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is more powerful than I [am], whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Now John was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because water was plentiful there, and they were coming and were being baptized.
And as they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?"
This is the one who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ, not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John in order to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent him, saying, "{I need} to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" Now [after he] was baptized, Jesus immediately went up from the water, and behold, the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove coming upon him. And behold, [there was] a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water. In your midst stands [one] whom you do not know-- the one who comes after me, of whom I am not worthy {to untie} the strap of his sandal!"
And as they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?" And he ordered the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water--Philip and the eunuch--and he baptized him. And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him any longer, for he went on his way rejoicing.
"Surely no one can withhold the water for these [people] to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as we also did!"
