This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
If you love me, keep my commandments; and I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot receive, because it beholds it not nor knows it; but you know it, because it continues with you, and shall be in you.
All things, therefore, which you wish men to do to you, do also thus to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not desire inordinately, and if there is any other commandment, it is summarily comprehended in this word; You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no evil to a neighbor; love therefore is the sum of the law.
For all the law is fully contained in one precept; you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to [his] purpose. For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he may be a first-born among many brothers; and whom he predestinated them he also called; and whom he called them he also justified; and whom he justified them he also glorified.

By faith Abraham when tried offered Isaac, and he that received the promises offered his only son, of whom it was said, In Isaac shall your posterity be called, judging that God was able to raise even from the dead; whence also in a figure he received him.
And so, my beloved, as you always obeyed, not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for God works in you both to will and to work of his good pleasure.
And none of these who became martyrs through faith received the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

For what says the Scripture? And Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
