'Children' in the Bible

“For My people are foolish,They know Me not;They are stupid childrenAnd have no understanding.They are shrewd to do evil,But to do good they do not know.”

But I am full of the wrath of the Lord;I am weary with holding it in.“Pour it out on the children in the streetAnd on the gathering of young men together;For both husband and wife shall be taken,The aged and the very old.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods in order to spite Me.

For death has come up through our windows;It has entered our palacesTo cut off the children from the streets,The young men from the town squares.

“I will winnow them with a winnowing forkAt the gates of the land;I will bereave them of children, I will destroy My people;They did not repent of their ways.

As they remember their children,So they remember their altars and their AsherimBy green trees on the high hills.

Therefore, give their children over to famineAnd deliver them up to the power of the sword;And let their wives become childless and widowed.Let their men also be smitten to death,Their young men struck down by the sword in battle.

‘Their children also will be as formerly,And their congregation shall be established before Me;And I will punish all their oppressors.

Thus says the Lord,“A voice is heard in Ramah,Lamentation and bitter weeping.Rachel is weeping for her children;She refuses to be comforted for her children,Because they are no more.”

“There is hope for your future,” declares the Lord,“And your children will return to their own territory.

who shows lovingkindness to thousands, but repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them, O great and mighty God. The Lord of hosts is His name;

and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them.

Now all the commanders of the forces that were in the field, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam over the land and that he had put him in charge of the men, women and children, those of the poorest of the land who had not been exiled to Babylon.

Then Johanan the son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces that were with him took from Mizpah all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, after he had struck down Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, that is, the men who were soldiers, the women, the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon.
