'Fashions' in the Bible
As for the idol, a craftsman casts it,A goldsmith plates it with gold,And a silversmith fashions chains of silver.
The blacksmith prepares a tool and works in the coals, then fashions an idol with hammers, working by the strength of his arm. He even becomes hungry and loses his strength; he drinks no water and grows faint.
The carpenter measures it with a line; he traces its shape with a stylus, then fashions it with planes and shapes it with a compass. He makes the idol like a human figure, with human beauty, to be at home in a shrine.
“Woe (judgment is coming) to him who quarrels with his Maker—A [worthless] piece of broken pottery among other broken pieces [equally worthless]!Shall the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you doing?’Or does the thing say, ‘He has no hands’?
“Those who lavish gold from the bagAnd weigh out silver on the scalesHire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god; They bow down, indeed they worship it.
