'Hired' in the Bible

A foreigner and a hired worker must not eat it.

If its owner was with it, he will not have to pay; if it was hired, what was paid for the hire covers it.

For six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you must cease, in order that your ox and your donkey may rest and that your female servant's son and any hired help may refresh themselves.

The hired hand, who is not a shepherd and does not own sheep, sees the wolf coming and abandons the sheep and runs away. So the wolf attacks the sheep and scatters them.

Because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep, he runs away.
