'Prophecy' in the Bible
So Solomon banished Abiathar from being the Lord’s priest, and it fulfilled the Lord’s prophecy He had spoken at Shiloh against Eli’s family.
The remaining events of Solomon’s reign, from beginning to end, are written in the Events of Nathan the Prophet, the Prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and the Visions of Iddo the Seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat.
When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He renovated the altar of the Lord that was in front of the portico of the Lord’s temple.
I realized that God had not sent him, because of the prophecy he spoke against me. Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

If I have the gift of prophecyand understand all mysteriesand all knowledge,and if I have all faithso that I can move mountainsbut do not have love, I am nothing.
But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in other languages, how will I benefit you unless I speak to you with a revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?
It follows that speaking in other languages is intended as a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers. But prophecy is not for unbelievers but for believers.
Do not neglect the gift that is in you; it was given to you through prophecy, with the laying on of hands by the council of elders.
First of all, you should know this: No prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation,
because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
The one who reads this is blessed, and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it are blessed, because the time is near!
These men have the power to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the days of their prophecy. They also have power over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every plague whenever they want.
Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow slave with you and your brothers who have the testimony about Jesus. Worship God, because the testimony about Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
