For David did not ascend into the heavens, yet he himself says,‘The Lord [the Father] said to my Lord [the Son],“Sit at My right hand,
However, the Most High [the One infinitely exalted above humanity] does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet [Isaiah] says,
‘Heaven is My throne,And the earth is the footstool for My feet; What kind of house will you build for Me?’ says the Lord,‘Or what place is there for My rest?
For this reason He also says in another Psalm, ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see decay.’
Says the Lord,Who has been making these things known from long ago.
And coming to [see] us, he took Paul’s [wide] band (belt, sash) and bound his own feet and hands, and said, “This is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this same way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this band, and they will hand him over to the Gentiles (pagans).’”
Paul said, “I was not aware, brothers, that he was high priest; for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’”
