'Sins' in the Bible
to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins,
And he went into all the surrounding region of the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
And [when he] saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you."
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins except God alone?"
Which is easier to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Get up and walk?'
But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins," he said to the one who was paralyzed, "I say to you, 'Get up and pick up your stretcher [and] go to your home.'"
{For this reason} I tell you, her sins--[which were] many--have been forgiven, for she loved much. But [the one] to whom little is forgiven loves little."
And he said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
And those who were reclining at the table with [him] began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"
And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation."
"Be concerned about yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.
And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times he returns to you saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive him."
and repentance and the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
