'Slaughter' in the Bible

The Lord of hosts will arouse a scourge against him like the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; and His staff will be over the sea and He will lift it up the way He did in Egypt.

“Prepare for his sons a place of slaughterBecause of the iniquity of their fathers.They must not arise and take possession of the earthAnd fill the face of the world with cities.”

Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has He struck them?Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain?

On every lofty mountain and on every high hill there will be streams running with water on the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

For the Lord’s indignation is against all the nations,And His wrath against all their armies;He has utterly destroyed them,He has given them over to slaughter.

The sword of the Lord is filled with blood,It is sated with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats,With the fat of the kidneys of rams.For the Lord has a sacrifice in BozrahAnd a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

Who inflame yourselves among the oaks,Under every luxuriant tree,Who slaughter the children in the ravines,Under the clefts of the crags?

I will destine you for the sword,And all of you will bow down to the slaughter.Because I called, but you did not answer;I spoke, but you did not hear.And you did evil in My sightAnd chose that in which I did not delight.”
