'Waste' in the Bible
A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his place to make your land a waste. Your cities will be ruined, and without inhabitants.
This entire land will be a desolation and a waste, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon for seventy years.

The land quakes and writhes because the LORD's purposes against Babylon stand firm, to make the land of Babylon a waste without inhabitants.
