These are the numbers of armed warriors who joined David at Hebron. They were all eager to see David become king instead of Saul, just as Jehovah had promised.

All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said to him: We are your own flesh and blood.

Hebron

When they went to the Negev, they came to Hebron where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak were. Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.

Later David asked Jehovah: Shall I go to the towns of Judah? Yes, Jehovah answered. Which one? David asked. Hebron, Jehovah told him.

He sent messengers to all the tribes of Israel. He told them: When you hear the sound of trumpets, shout: 'Absalom is king in Hebron!'

He was king of Israel for forty years. He ruled seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

Behold

Laban said: You are indeed my own flesh and blood. Jacob stayed there a whole month.

you shall surely set a king over you whom Jehovah your God chooses. It will be one from among your countrymen. You may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your countryman.

Ask the men of Shechem: 'Which is better for you. To have all seventy of Gideon's sons govern you or to have just one man? Remember that Abimelech is your own flesh and blood.'

You are my relatives, my own flesh and blood. Why should you be the last to reinstate the king?

And we are members of his body!
