The Anointing Of David As King

² In time past, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in. Jehovah your God said to you: You will shepherd my people Israel, and be ruler over my people Israel. ³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord through Samuel. ⁴ David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.

1 Samuel 16:1

Jehovah said to Samuel: How long will you mourn for Saul? After all I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Take oil in your vessel and go. I will send you to Jesse, the Beth-lehemite. I have a king from among his sons.

1 Samuel 16:12-13

Jesse sent for him. He was a handsome, healthy young man, and his eyes sparkled. Jehovah said to Samuel: This is the one. Anoint him!

1 Samuel 16:3

Then invite Jesse to the sacrifice. I will reveal to you what you should do. You will anoint the one I point out to you.

2 Samuel 2:4

Then the men of Judah came to Hebron. They anointed David as king of Judah. David heard that the people of Jabesh-gilead (Jabesh in Gilead) buried Saul.

2 Samuel 5:3

All the elders of Israel came to King David at Hebron. He made a sacred alliance with them. They anointed him, and he became king of Israel.

Judges 11:11

Jephthah went with the leaders of Gilead. The people made him their ruler and leader. Jephthah stated his terms at Mizpah in Jehovah's presence.

1 Samuel 11:15

So all the people went to Gilgal. In Gilgal they made Saul king before Jehovah. Peace offerings were offered before Jehovah. Saul and all the men of Israel were glad with great joy.

1 Samuel 15:28

Samuel said to him: Jehovah has torn the kingdom of Israel away from you today. He gave it to someone who is a better man than you.

1 Samuel 23:18

They both promised Jehovah that they would always be loyal to each other. Then Jonathan went home while David stayed at Horesh.

Jehovah did to you what he told you through me. He took the kingdom away from you and gave it to David instead.

The priest Jehoiada had King Jehoash and the people make a covenant with Jehovah that they would be Jehovah's people. He also made a covenant between the king and the people.

His servants took his body in a carriage from Megiddo to Jerusalem. They buried him there. The people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and put the holy oil on him and made him king in place of his father.

2 Chronicles 23:3

The entire assembly made an agreement with the king in God's Temple. Then Jehoiada said to them: Here is the king's son. He should be king, as Jehovah said about David's descendants.
