David's Capture Of Jerusalem

⁴ Then David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, for there the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of that land. ⁵ The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You shall not enter here.” Nevertheless David captured the stronghold of Zion (that is, the city of David). ⁶ And David said, Whoever smites the Jebusites first shall be head and prince. So Joab, the son of Zeruiah, went up first and was made the head.
