1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers unto David, and timber of cedars, with masons and artificers, to build for him a house.

1 After this, King Hiram of Tyre sent a delegation to David, accompanied by cedar logs, stone masons, and wood workers, to construct a palace for him.
2 So David perceived, that Yahweh, had confirmed him, as king over Israel, - that his kingship was exalted, for the sake of his people Israel.
2 And David realized that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted, for the sake of His people Israel.

8 And, when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek to secure David, - and David, hearing, went out against them.

11 So they came up in Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and David said, God hath broken forth against mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking forth of waters, - For this cause, called they the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
11 So they came up to Baal-perazim, and David (c)defeated them there; and David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like the breakthrough of waters.” Therefore they named that place (d)Baal-perazim.

12 And they left their gods there, - and David gave the word, and they were burned up in fire.

15 It shall be when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God will have gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
15 When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then march out to battle, for God will have marched out ahead of you to attack the camp of the Philistines.”

16 So David did as God commanded him, - and they smote the host of the Philistines, from Gibeon even unto Gezer.
