Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:

For their office is
to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God,

Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer, and Judah the son of Hassenuah was second
in command of the city.
Be on guard for yourselves and for all
the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

1 Chronicles 26:29
As for the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons
were assigned to outside duties for Israel, as officers and judges.
“You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your
towns which the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
If any case is too difficult for you to decide, between one kind of homicide or another, between one kind of lawsuit or another, and between one kind of assault or another, being cases of dispute in your courts, then you shall arise and go up to the place which the Lord your God chooses.
2 Chronicles 19:8
In Jerusalem also Jehoshaphat appointed some
of the Levites and priests, and some of the heads of the fathers’ households of Israel, for the judgment of the Lord and to judge disputes among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
For the lips of a priest should preserve
knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.
