because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God

And their brothers, the Levites, were appointed for all kinds of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

And certain of them were over the ministering vessels, that they should bring them in and out by count.

And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God and over the treasures of the dedicated things.

Set forward

And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer. And Judah the son of Senuah was second over the city.

Therefore take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God which He has purchased with His own blood.

Officers and judges

Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.

You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, tribe by tribe. And they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

If a matter is too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, matters of strife within your gates, then you shall arise and go up to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose.

And Jehoshaphat set some of the Levites and of the priests and of the chief of the fathers of Israel in Jerusalem for the judgment of Jehovah, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.

For the priest's lips should guard knowledge, and they should seek the Law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of Hosts.
