That which

I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked spirit. I write to you, little children, because ye have known the father.

In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God, and the Logos was God.

Jesus said to them, verily, verily I say unto you, before Abraham was I AM.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, saith the Lord, who is, and who was, and who will be, the almighty.

Which we have heard

and we have seen, and do testify, that the father hath sent the son to be the saviour of the world.

according as they were delivered to us by persons, who were all along eye-witnesses, and had a share in the transactions themselves:

The Logos became incarnate, and had his tabernacle among us, being full of grace and truth; and we contemplated his glory, such glory as the Monogenes derived from the father.

for we cannot avoid publishing what we have seen and heard.

behold my hands, and my feet. for I am bodily present, touch me and consider me; for a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see me have:

then said he to Thomas, reach hither thy finger, and examine my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
