if a man says he loves God, and yet hates his brother, he is a lyar: for he that does not love his brother, who is before his eyes, how can he love God who is invisible?

no man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten son, who is intimate with the father, hath made him known.

to the king of the world, the immortal, invisible, and the only God be honour and glory to endless ages. amen.

who alone is essentially immortal, dwelling in that inaccessible light, which no mortal ever saw, or can see: to whom belongs everlasting honour and empire. amen.

by faith he left Egypt without being apprehensive of the king's resentment: for he remain'd firm, as if he saw him who is invisible.

Love one

we are of God: he that knoweth God, heareth us; he that is not of God, heareth not us. by this we distinguish the spirit of truth from the spirit of imposture.

he that observes his commandments, dwelleth in God, and God in him: and hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the spirit which he hath given us.

the divine love to us will be in the highest degree, if our condition in this world be the same as was that of Christ Jesus; so that we may appear with confidence in the day of judgment.

but he that observes his precepts, loves God with a true and perfect love: 'tis by this we know that we are truly christians.

and now faith, hope, social virtue, these three will all remain; but the most permanent of the three is social virtue.
