And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:
The governor of his house
Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who had
charge of all that he owned, “ Please place your hand under my thigh,
found favor in his sight and became his personal servant; and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he owned he put in his charge.
You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you.”
Feared the lord
1 Kings 18:12
It will come about when I leave you
that the Spirit of the Lord will carry you where I do not know; so when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth.
He said, “Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now
I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
Now Joseph said to them on the third day, “Do this and live, for
I fear God:
2 Kings 4:1
Now a certain woman of the wives of
the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”
But the former governors who were before me
laid burdens on the people and took from them bread and wine besides forty shekels of silver; even their servants domineered the people. But I did not do so because of the fear of God.
then I put
Hanani my brother, and Hananiah the commander of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.
In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
his children will have refuge.
Then those who
feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name.
Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
a devout man and
one who feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the Jewish people and prayed to God continually.
