Samuel had all the tribes of Israel come forward. The tribe of Benjamin was chosen.

So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:

Saul said to Jehovah the God of Israel, give a perfect lot. Jonathan and Samuel were taken, but the people escaped.

They prayed: You O Jehovah, know the hearts of all men. Show us which of these men you choose.
