Put his life

The woman went to him. She saw that he was terrified. So she said to him: I risked my life by doing what you asked.

My father fought for you. He risked his life to deliver you from the Midianites.

When I realized you were not going to, I risked my life and crossed the border to fight them. Jehovah gave me victory over them. Why are you coming to fight me now?

My life is continually in my hand, yet I do not forget your law.

I do not consider my life of any account. It is not dear to me so that I may finish the race, and I may accomplish the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to preach the good news of the grace of God.

because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.

Slew

He put a rock in his sling and swung the sling around by its straps. When he let go of one strap, the rock flew out and hit Goliath on the forehead. It cracked his skull. He fell facedown on the ground.

Wrought

Saul said: No man is to be put to death today, for today Jehovah has saved Israel.

But the people said to Saul: Will Jonathan, who won this great victory for Israel, be put to death? No! We promise by the living Jehovah that he will not lose even a hair from his head. What he did today was done with God's help. So the people saved Jonathan from being put to death.

The men of Israel and Judah shouted and ran after them. They pursued them all the way to Gath and to the gates of Ekron. The Philistines fell wounded all along the road that leads to Shaaraim, as far as Gath and Ekron.

But Moses said to the people: Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of Jehovah. He will accomplish this for you today. The Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.

They stationed themselves in the middle of that field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So Jehovah brought about a great victory.

How shall we escape, if we neglect such a great salvation? It was first presented by the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard him.

Sin against innocent

Jonathan asked his father: Why should he be killed? What has he done?

But if you put me to death, you and everyone else in Jerusalem will be guilty of murdering an innocent man. This is because everything I spoke came from Jehovah.

He said: I have done wrong in giving a righteous man to you.

Without a cause

No one who waits for you will ever be put to shame, but all who are treacherous will be put to shame.

Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who want to destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty. I have to restore what I did not take away.

This took place that the word written in the Law may be fulfilled: They hated me without a cause.
