Some good-for-nothing people asked: How can this man save us? They despised him and would not bring him presents. He did not respond.

Consider what you should do because our master and his whole household are doomed. He is such a worthless man that it is useless to talk to him.

some worthless men have gone out from among you and have mislead the inhabitants of their city, saying: Let us go and serve other gods you have not known.

They were enjoying themselves when suddenly some sexual perverts from the town surrounded the house and pounded on the door. They said to the old man: Bring out the man who came to your house! We want to have sex with him!

Get two good-for-nothing persons to come before him and give witness that he has been cursing God and the king. Then take him out and have him stoned to death.

And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

Knew

Samuel had no experience with Jehovah, because the word of Jehovah had not yet been revealed to him.

After those generations were gathered to their fathers (died) another generation followed them. This new generation did not know Jehovah or the works he had done for Israel.

The priests did not ask: 'Where is Jehovah? Those who deal with my Law did not know me. The rulers rebelled against me. The prophets prophesied in the name of Baal and followed things that could not help (profit) them.'

He pled the cause of the afflicted and needy. Then it was well. Is that not what it means to know me? Says Jehovah.

You do not know him. I know him. If I say I do not know him I would be like you, a liar! But I know him and obey his word.

But they do these things because they do not know the Father or me.

This is everlasting life that they should have *deep, intimate knowledge of you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have commissioned. *(Greek: ginosko: know, perceive, be sure, understand)

for when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God. They did not thank him and were vain in their reasoning, for their foolish hearts were darkened.
