David said to Jonathan, "Tomorrow is the new moon, and I am certainly expected to join the king for a meal. You must send me away so I can hide in the field until the third evening from now.

"Also in the time when you rejoice, such as on your appointed festivals or at the beginnings of your months, you must blow with your trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings, so that they may become a memorial for you before your God: I am the Lord your God."

"'On the first day of each month you must offer as a burnt offering to the Lord two young bulls, one ram, and seven unblemished lambs a year old,

So Jonathan told David, "My father Saul is trying to kill you. So be careful tomorrow morning. Find a hiding place and stay in seclusion.

If your father happens to miss me, you should say, 'David urgently requested me to let him go to his city Bethlehem, for there is an annual sacrifice there for his entire family.'

On the third day you should go down quickly and come to the place where you hid yourself the day this all started. Stay near the stone Ezel.

He said, "Why do you want to go see him today? It is not the new moon or the Sabbath." She said, "Everything's fine."

Indeed, it is not an enemy who insults me, or else I could bear it; it is not one who hates me who arrogantly taunts me, or else I could hide from him.

Sound the ram's horn on the day of the new moon, and on the day of the full moon when our festival begins.

A shrewd person sees danger and hides himself, but the naive keep right on going and suffer for it.

Then they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple area.

Then the brothers sent Paul away to the coast at once, but Silas and Timothy remained in Berea.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days --
