The Return Of The Ark Of Covenant

1 And the ark of Jehovah was in the field of the Philistines seven months.

1 Now the ark of the Lord had been in the (a)country of the Philistines seven months.

1 And the ark of the LORD was in the country of the Philistines seven months.

1 When the ark of the Lord had been in the land of the Philistines for seven months,

1 The Ark of the LORD remained in Philistine territory for seven months.

2 And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of Jehovah? Tell us with what we shall send with it to its place.

2 And (A)the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, “What shall we do with the ark of the Lord? Tell us (b)how we shall send it to its place.”

2 And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the LORD? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place.

2 the Philistines summoned the priests and the diviners(A) and pleaded, “What should we do with the ark of the Lord? Tell us how we can send it back to its place.”

2 The Philistines summoned the priests and diviners and asked, "What should we do about the Ark of the LORD? Tell us how we should send it back to its place."

3 And they said, If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it empty. For you shall certainly send a guilt offering to him. Then you shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why His hand is not removed from you.

3 They said, “If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, (B)do not send it empty; but you shall surely (C)return to Him a guilt offering. Then you will be healed and it will be known to you why His hand is not removed from you.”

3 And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a trespass offering: then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.

3 They replied, “If you send the ark of Israel’s God away, you must not send it without an offering.(B) You must send back a restitution offering to Him,(C) and you will be healed. Then the reason His hand hasn’t been removed from you will be revealed.”(a)

3 They said, "If you send the Ark of the God of Israel back, don't send it empty, but rather be sure to send back to him a guilt offering. Then you will be healed and will know why his oppression has not been removed from you."

4 And they said, What shall be the guilt offering which we shall return to Him? And they answered, Five golden hemorrhoids, and five golden mice, for the number of the lords of the Philistines. For one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

4 Then they said, “What shall be the guilt offering which we shall return to Him?” And they said, “Five golden (D)tumors and five golden mice (E)according to the number of the lords of the Philistines, for one plague was on all of (c)you and on your lords.

4 Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

4 They asked, “What restitution offering should we send back to Him?”And they answered, “Five gold tumors and five gold mice(D) corresponding to the number of Philistine rulers,(E) since there was one plague for both you(b) and your rulers.

4 They asked, "What is the guilt offering that we should send back to him?"

5 And you shall make images of your hemorrhoids, and images of your mice which mar the land. And you shall give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps He will lighten His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.

5 So you shall make likenesses of your tumors and likenesses of your mice that ravage the land, and (F)you shall give glory to the God of Israel; perhaps (G)He will ease His hand from you, (H)your gods, and your land.

5 Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.

5 Make images of your tumors and of your mice that are destroying the land. Give glory to Israel’s God,(F) and perhaps He will stop oppressing you,(c)(G) your gods, and your land.(H)

5 "Five gold tumors and five gold mice," they answered, "according to the number of the lords of the Philistines, since the same plague was on all of you and on your lords. Make images of your tumors and images of the mice that are destroying your land, and you are to give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps he will remove his pressure from you, your gods, and your land.

6 And why do you harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When He had worked wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and did they not depart?

6 Why then do you harden your hearts (I)as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When He had severely dealt with them, (J)did they not allow (d)the people to go, and they departed?

6 Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?

6 Why harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened theirs?(I) When He afflicted them, didn’t they send Israel away, and Israel left?(J)

6 Why should you harden your hearts just as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? Isn't it true that after God toyed with them, they let Israel go, and off they went?

7 And now make a new cart, and take two milk cows on which there has come no yoke, and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them.

7 Now therefore, take and (K)prepare a new cart and two milch cows on which there (L)has never been a yoke; and hitch the cows to the cart and take their calves home, away from them.

7 Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milch kine, on which there hath come no yoke, and tie the kine to the cart, and bring their calves home from them:

7 “Now then, prepare one new cart and two milk cows that have never been yoked.(K) Hitch the cows to the cart, but take their calves away and pen them up.

7 "So make a new cart, and take two milk cows that have never had a yoke on them. Hitch the cows to the cart and take their calves away from them and back to the house.

8 And take the ark of Jehovah and lay it on the cart. And put the jewels of gold which you return to Him for a trespass offering in a box in its side. And send it away so that it may go.

8 Take the ark of the Lord and place it on the cart; and put (M)the articles of gold which you return to Him as (N)a guilt offering in a box by its side. Then send it away that it may go.

8 And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.

8 Take the ark of the Lord, place it on the cart, and put the gold objects that you’re sending Him as a restitution offering in a box(L) beside the ark.(M) Send it off and let it go its way.

8 Take the Ark of the LORD, put it on the cart, and put the gold objects that you are returning to him as a guilt offering in a box beside it. Then send it away and let it go.

9 And watch. If it goes up by the way of its own border to Beth-shemesh, He has done us this great evil. But if not, then we shall know that it is not His hand that struck us. It was a chance that happened to us.

9 Watch, if it goes up by the way of its own territory to (O)Beth-shemesh, then He has done us this great evil. But if not, then (P)we will know that it was not His hand that struck us; it happened to us by chance.”

9 And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Bethshemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.

9 Then watch: If it goes up the road to its homeland toward Beth-shemesh,(N) it is the Lord who has made this terrible trouble for us. However, if it doesn’t, we will know that it was not His hand that punished(O) us—it was just something that happened to us by chance.”

9 Keep watching it. If it goes up along the road to its own territory to Beth-shemesh, it's the LORD who has done this great evil to us. But if it does not, then we will know that he wasn't pressuring us. It happened to us as a natural event."

10 And the men did so. And they took two milk cows and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.

10 Then the men did so, and took two milch cows and hitched them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.

10 And the men did so; and took two milch kine, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home:

10 The men did this: They took two milk cows, hitched them to the cart, and confined their calves in the pen.

12 And the cows took the straight way to the way of Beth-shemesh, going along the highway, lowing as they went. And they did not turn aside to the right or to the left. And the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth-shemesh.

12 And the cows took the straight way in the (e)direction of (Q)Beth-shemesh; they went along (R)the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn aside to the right or to the left. And the lords of the Philistines followed them to the border of Beth-shemesh.

12 And the kine took the straight way to the way of Bethshemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Bethshemesh.

12 The cows went straight up the road to Beth-shemesh.(P) They stayed on that one highway,(Q) lowing as they went; they never strayed to the right or to the left. The Philistine rulers were walking behind them to the territory of Beth-shemesh.

12 The cows took a straight path along the road to Beth-shemesh. They stayed on the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn to the right or the left. The Philistine lords followed them as far as the border of Beth-shemesh.

13 And the people of Beth-shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley. And they lifted up their eyes and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.

13 Now the people of Beth-shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley, and they raised their eyes and saw the ark and were glad to see it.
