Thus you became a pattern to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia;

Now, brothers, I have to tell you about the grace God has given to the churches of Macedonia.

Hence, as I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

since we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints,

We are bound always to thank God for you, brothers ??it is proper that we should, because your faith grows apace and your mutual love, one and all, is increasing.

for as I hear of your love and loyalty to the Lord Jesus and to all the saints,

Finally, brothers, we beg and beseech you in the Lord Jesus to follow our instructions about the way you are to live so as to satisfy God; you are leading that life, but you are to excel in it still further.

And may the Lord make you increase and excel in love to one another and to all men (as is my love for you),

And it is my prayer that your love may be more and more rich in knowledge and all manner of insight, enabling you to have a sense of what is vital,

Brothers, I for one do not consider myself to have appropriated this; my one thought is, by forgetting what lies behind me and straining to what lies before me,

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. To him be the glory now and to the day of eternity: Amen.
