This has led me to ask Titus to complete the arrangements for the same gracious contribution among yourselves, as it was he who started it.

So I beg of you not to lose heart over what I am suffering on your behalf; my sufferings are an honour to you.

It is my heart's desire that each of you would prove equally keen upon realizing your full hope to the very end,

First

First and foremost, I passed on to you what I had myself received, namely, that Christ died for our sins as the scriptures had said,

Supplications

The really forlorn widow has her hope fixed on God, night and day she is at her prayers and supplications;

Let this be how you pray: 'our Father in heaven, thy name be revered,

So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed; the prayers of the righteous have a powerful effect.

And

First of all, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because the report of your faith is over all the world.

Thank God, though you did serve sin, you have rendered whole-hearted obedience to what you were taught under the rule of faith;

and render thanks to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ at all times and for all things.

I thank my God for all your remembrance of me;

We are bound always to thank God for you, brothers ??it is proper that we should, because your faith grows apace and your mutual love, one and all, is increasing.

All men

to the God who desires all men to be saved and to attain the knowledge of the Truth.

Such ages of ignorance God overlooked, but he now charges men that they are all everywhere to repent,

And may the Lord make you increase and excel in love to one another and to all men (as is my love for you),

And the Lord's servant must not be a man of strife; he must be kind to everybody, a skilled teacher, a man who will not resent injuries;

For the grace of God has appeared to save all men,

they must abuse no one, they must not quarrel, but be conciliatory and display perfect gentleness to all men.
