And when all Israel saw that the king would not hear them, the people answered the king, saying, "What part have we with David or inheritance with the son of Jesse? Let every man of Israel go to his tent. And now, David, see to thine own house!" And thereupon all Israel gat them to their tents,

And there happened to be an unthrifty fellow named Sheba, the son of Bichri a man of Benjamin which blew a trumpet and said, "We have no part in David, nor inheritance in the son of Jesse, O Israel.

And so Israel departed from the house of David unto this day.

Neither showed they mercy on the house of Jerubbaal, otherwise called Gideon, according to all the goodness which he showed them.

But on the morrow which was the second day of the moon, when David's place appeared empty, Saul said unto Jonathan his son, "Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday nor today?"

Then was Saul angry with Jonathan and said unto him, "O froward and rebellious, thinkest thou I know not how thou hast chosen the son of Jesse unto thine own rebuke, and unto the rebuke and shame of thy mother?

he said unto his servants that stood about him, "Hear I pray you, you sons of Benjamin: will the son of Jesse also give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains over thousands and over hundreds,

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which had the oversight of the servants of Saul, and said, "I saw the son of Jesse, when he came to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub,

Then said Saul to him, "Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, insomuch that thou hast given him victuals and a sword, and hast asked counsel of God for him that he should arise against me and lie await as it is come to pass this day?"

But my mercy will I not take away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put down before thee.

And there came a messenger to David and said, "The hearts of the men of Israel are to follow Absalom."

And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, "Behold, my son which came out of mine own bowels seeketh my life. How much more may this son of Benjamin do it? Suffer him therefore to curse, for the LORD hath bidden him.

Howbeit I will not take away all: but will give one tribe to thy son, because of David my servant and because of Jerusalem which I have chosen."

Howbeit, I will take none of the kingdom out of his hand: but will make him chief all his life long, for David my servant's sake, which I chose: because he kept my commandments and ordinances.

And when all Israel saw that the king regarded them not, the people answered the king again saying, "We have no part in David, nor inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents therefore Israel, and now see to thine own house David." And so Israel departed unto their tents.

But I will set him in mine house and in my kingdom forever, and his seat shall be sure forever.'"

The fierceness of man shall turn to thy praise; and the fierceness of them shalt thou refrain.

His seed also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

There shall I make the horn of David to flourish; I have ordained a lantern for mine anointed.

For unto us a child is born, and unto us a son is given. Upon his shoulders shall the kingdom lie, and he shall be called with his own name, "Wonderful, the giver of counsel, the mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of peace."

There shall come a rod out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch shall spring out of his root.

"Thus sayeth the LORD: May the covenant which I have made with day and night be broken, that there should not be day and night in due season?

Therefore thus sayeth the LORD: If I have made no covenant with day and night, and given no statute unto heaven and earth;

David my servant shall be their king, and they all shall have one shepherd only. They shall walk in my laws, and my commandments shall they both keep and fulfill.

"At that time will I build again the tabernacle of David, that is fallen down, and hedge up his gaps. And look: what is broken, I shall repair it. Yea, I shall build it again, as it was a fore time,

He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the highest. And the Lord God shall give unto him the seat of his father David:

But his citizens hated him, and sent messengers after him, saying, 'We will not have this man to reign over us.'

Moreover, those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.'"

From that time, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

And every man went unto his own house.
