And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
As Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel
looked, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they became very frightened; so the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.
When the men of Ai turned
back and looked, behold, the smoke of the city ascended to the sky, and they had no place to flee this way or that, for the people who had been fleeing to the wilderness turned against the pursuers.
Then all the men of Israel arose from their place and arrayed themselves at Baal-tamar;
and the men of Israel in ambush broke out of their place, even out of Maareh-geba.
2 Samuel 10:8
The sons of Ammon came out and drew up in battle array
at the entrance of the city, while the Arameans of Zobah and of Rehob and the men of Tob and Maacah were by themselves in the field.
