All Judah was happy about the oath, because they made the vow with their whole heart. They willingly sought the Lord and he responded to them. He made them secure on every side.

He said to the people of Judah: "Let's build these cities and fortify them with walls, towers, and barred gates. The land remains ours because we have followed the Lord our God and he has made us secure on all sides." So they built the cities and prospered.

You will celebrate all the good things that the Lord your God has given you and your family, along with the Levites and the resident foreigners among you.

A long time passed after the Lord made Israel secure from all their enemies, and Joshua was very old.

He met Asa and told him, "Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin! The Lord is with you when you are loyal to him. If you seek him, he will respond to you, but if you reject him, he will reject you.

Now I intend to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, so that he may relent from his raging anger.

Hezekiah and all the people were happy about what God had done for them, for it had been done quickly.

Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priestly scribe, and the Levites who were imparting understanding to the people said to all of them, "This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep." For all the people had been weeping when they heard the words of the law.

But if God is quiet, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, then who can see him? Yet he is over the individual and the nation alike,

Rejoice in the Lord and be happy, you who are godly! Shout for joy, all you who are morally upright!

I have vowed and solemnly sworn to keep your just regulations.

I claim your rules as my permanent possession, for they give me joy.

Her ways are very pleasant, and all her paths are peaceful.

Yes, as your judgments unfold, O Lord, we wait for you. We desire your fame and reputation to grow.

I have not spoken in secret, in some hidden place. I did not tell Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain!' I am the Lord, the one who speaks honestly, who makes reliable announcements.

For our reason for confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity which are from God -- not by human wisdom but by the grace of God -- we conducted ourselves in the world, and all the more toward you.

I feel torn between the two, because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far,
