Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beersheba, and there
he called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.

Joshua said to them, “If you are a numerous people, go
up to the forest and clear a place for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.”
Now it came about in those days, when
there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite staying in the remote part of the hill country of Ephraim, who took a concubine for himself from Bethlehem in Judah.

Now when Asa heard these words and the
prophecy which Azariah the son of Oded the prophet spoke, he took courage and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. It is he who will
go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, so as to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
“When you go out as
an army against your enemies, you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.
