And his relations hearing of it went out to lay hold of him; for they said, He is beside himself.

Many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why do ye hear him?

And some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said, What doth this babbler mean to say? and others, He seemeth to be a setter forth of foreign gods; because he brought the glad tidings of Jesus and the resurrection.

And as he was thus speaking in his defence, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning is making thee mad.

We are fools for Christs sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are in honor, but we are despised.

For whether we were beside ourselves, it was for God; or whether we are in our sound mind, it is for you.
