Be of good

Is the soil rich or poor? Does the land have trees or not? Do your best to bring back some fruit from the land. It was the season when grapes were beginning to ripen.

Be determined and with good courage. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, Jehovah, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.

Be strong and courageous for you will help this people inherit the land. This is the land I swore to give to their fathers.

Jonathan said to the young man: Let us cross over to the camp of those heathen Philistines. Maybe Jehovah will help us. If he does, nothing can keep him from giving us the victory no matter how few of us there are.

David told Saul: No one should be discouraged because of this. I will go and fight this Philistine.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened or terrified by the king of Assyria or the crowd with him. Someone greater is on our side.

And after looking, I got up and said to the great ones and to the chiefs and to the rest of the people, Have no fear of them. Keep in mind Jehovah who is great and greatly to be feared. Take up arms for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives and your houses.

So that with good confidence (courage) we say: Jehovah is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do to me? (Psalm 56:11)

Play

Be strong, Philistines, and conduct your selves like men (with courage). Or else you will serve the Hebrews as they served you. Act like men and fight.

Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. Jehovah will do what is good in his sight.

Be alert (be watchful) and stand fast (be vigilant) (persevere) in the faith, carry on as men (be courageous), be strong. (Ps 31:24)

The lord

What business is this of yours? The king said to Abishai and his brother Joab. If Jehovah told him to curse me who am I to stop him?

But the people of Israel said to Jehovah: We have sinned. Do to us what seems best to you, only please, save us today!

Then Samuel told Eli everything. Eli replied: He is Jehovah! He will do what he thinks is right.

He said: I was born with nothing (naked), and I will die with nothing. Jehovah gave, and now he has taken away. Blessed be the name of Jehovah!

Joab answered reluctantly: Your Majesty, may Jehovah your God make the people of Israel a hundred times more numerous than they are now. May you live to see him do it. But why does Your Majesty want to do this?
