David said to Nathan: I have sinned against Jehovah. Nathan replied: Jehovah has taken away your sin. You will not die.

After David had everyone counted, he felt guilty and told Jehovah: What I did was stupid and terribly wrong. Jehovah, please forgive me.

He comes to men and says: 'I sinned, and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved.'

The man who covers his sins will not be blessed; but whoever confesses and leaves them will have mercy.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Do thou

Now we are in your hands. Do to us what seems good and right to you.

Then Samuel told Eli everything. Eli replied: He is Jehovah! He will do what he thinks is right.

Be brave and fight hard to protect our people and the cities of our God. I pray that Jehovah will do whatever pleases him.

Let him do to me what he wishes if he is not pleased with me.

And I said: I have been cast out of your sight. Yet I will look again toward your Holy Temple.

Who knows whether God will turn back and change his mind, and turn away from his fierce anger that we will not perish?

So the Israelites got rid of their idols of Baal and Astarte. They worshiped only Jehovah.

On that day people will regard their Maker. Their eyes will look (offer respect) to the Holy One of Israel.
